VISITS

Across the Federation

As a Federation we consider educational visits a valuable tool in enhancing learning throughout the curriculum.

Children in Reception to Year 2 go on a variety of day trips such as Lorton Meadows and Corfe Castle. When children join the Junior school, day trips include New Barn, Maiden Castle and the WOEC and in addition they have the opportunity to go on residential visits.

In Year 3 the children go on an outdoor overnight camping adventure to Carey Camp in Wareham Forest. In Year 4 pupils embark on a 2 night residential to Leeson House in Langton Matravers and in Year 6 the children take part in a week long outdoor adventure to PGL Little Canada, on the Isle of Wight. We ask parents/ carers to make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of visits; without this support, it would not be possible to arrange such experiences.

Our preferred method of payment for all trips is via Schoolmoney.co.uk which is a secure online payment facility. Please see the office for more details. The school subsidises the costs of all trips by as much as possible, specific details are advised on trip letters. Parents/carers must give their written permission for their child to participate in all visits by completing the slip provided with the information concerning the visit. Without this consent form the child will not be allowed to take part. Short trips in the local area are covered by the permission given on the admission form.

Full risk assessments are conducted for all educational visits and off-site activities

The school subsidises the cost of trips and visits as much as possible, however it is usually necessary to ask parents/carers to make a voluntary contribution.  It would not be possible to organise such experiences without contributions from parents and we are very grateful for any received.

Parents/Carers must give separate written permission for their child to participate in visits requiring transportation by completing the slip provided in the letter advising the trip is taking place.  Visits in the local area are covered by the permission given on the admission form.

Without consent being received, the child will not be allowed to take part in the visit.

When appropriate, we welcome parental help in school and on educational visits.  Your childs class teacher will advise you as and when additional helpers are needed.

Abbotsbury Farm

We don’t mind a little rain. It didn’t dampen our spirits. We had a lovely time at Abbotsbury Farm. We had lots of fun in the indoor play area and as the rain drizzled away we ventured outside to drive the tractors, feed the lambs, say ‘Hello’ to the horse and some of us ...
