YEAR 6

KEY STAGE 2

This is the final year before moving onto secondary school. A chance to make the most of your learning and show what you have achieved.

The year all children think of as their SATs year.  Important, hard work, challenging! Role models for the school! That aside – what else does year 6 offer?

Sporting events, shelter building, exploring Weymouth Through Time with Civil War battles and debates, Fairtrade, the Galapogos, Mayans and Dragons Den.

In addition, we have trips to Nothe Fort, Firewise, sailing, Primary College and, last but not least, is the amazing week long residential to PGL on the Isle of Wight.

Year 6 is an amazing year at Wyke Regis Federation as it is the pinnacle of your education before taking a new leap into the unknown.

We believe that it is important to work hard, but just as equally important to have fun and be creative.

Transfer to Secondary Schools

What happens?

Transfer to Secondary School In the autumn term of Year 6, the Education Authority will request that you give your preferences for secondary schools in the area.

Historically the majority of our pupils transfer to All Saints Church of England School. The other options for pupils from this area are Budmouth College, Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (Royal Manor Campus) Portland, or The Wey Valley School and Sports College, Broadwey.

You will be notified of Open Evenings given by the four secondary schools in October, which you may wish to attend. Our links with local schools are there to ensure as smooth a transfer as possible and staff from secondary schools are always willing to meet parents individually wherever possible, to answer questions.

In 2015 figures for Year 6 pupil destinations were: All Saints School 59 children, Budmouth College 21 children, IPACA 5 children & The Wey Valley School 2 children.
