ADMISSIONS

FEDERATION

Dorset LA is the Admissions Authority for our school. Where all parental preferences for places at the school can be satisfied, all children seeking a place will be admitted. Where there are too few places available to satisfy all preferences, places will be allocated according to the following priority order:

  • children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs which specifies attendance at the school
  • children who are looked after by the local authority
  • children living within the school’s catchment area and who have a sibling attending the school at the time of admission
  • children living within the school’s catchment area
  • children living outside the school’s catchment area who have a sibling attending the school at the time of admission
  • children living outside the school’s catchment area

At the present time, the school has an admission number of 90 children per year group. For further information concerning admissions, please contact the school office.

Parents considering applying for admission of their children to our school are invited to make an appointment to meet the Head of School and view the school premises. Children are very welcome to accompany their parents on this visit.

The school premises enable disabled access to all parts of the building and we have a disabled toilet in our administration block.

Our children attend the Nursery for up to 10, 3 hour sessions a week. Children are eligible to start the Nursery in the term after they are 3 years old.

During Year 2, parents will be required to make an application for admission to Junior school.   Admission to Wyke Regis CE Junior School is not automatic applications must therefore be submitted.

There is close co-operation between the two schools. The children visit the Junior School before the end of the summer term so that they are familiar with their future school and are confident about the new term.

The school is subject to the Dorset LA Admissions Policy. Children may start school in the Reception year at the beginning of the school year in which they are five (the school year is from the 1st September to the 31st August). The children starting in Reception will attend on a full time basis of five days a week.
