YEAR 2

KEY STAGE 1

Do you want to find out about Incredible journeys or Amazing animals? Fight Great Fires? Get mucky and messy? Take a ‘trip’ to Mexico or be the King or Queen of your very own Cool Castle?  Then Year 2 is the place for you!

Every year in your child’s education is important but Year 2 is a key year for the children as it is the last year of Key Stage One.

This year their learning will focus on embedding their basic skills in reading, writing and maths and prepare all children for the important End of Key Stage Statutory Assessments. We also ready the children for their transition from Key Stage One into Key Stage 2 and Year 3.

We have lots of exciting events planned in the Summer Term for the children to become familiar with the Year 3 team of teachers and join forces with the Year 3 children.

We aim to make this transition smooth and happy so that the children are confident in moving into a new year group and new building.
Even with lots of very important events happening in this year, we like to have fun and learn lots of new skills through some amazing topics and generally become epic members of our school!

At the end of Year 2, at age seven, the children transfer to Junior School. Most of the time, all our Year 2 children choose to continue through the Federation to Wyke Junior School. There is close co-operation between the two schools. The children visit the Junior School before the end of the summer term so that they are familiar with their future school and are confident about the new term.

You must still apply to Junior School through the admissions website, whichever school you decide to go on to.
