Year 4 Leeson House
15th May 2017 - 19th May 2017

3rd January 2017
Dear Parents/Carers
Monday 15th May 2017 – Friday 19th May 2017
A residential visit to Leeson House Field Studies Centre during week commencing 15th May 2017 is currently being planned for the Year 4 children.
Leeson House is a Grade II listed Dorset LEA Residential Field Studies Centre in six acres of grounds, providing educational facilities for Dorset schools. The Centre is located in the Isle of Purbeck, two miles from Swanage, at Langton Matravers.
The work that the children will cover will include Science, History and Geography covering:
• Beach Studies and rock formations
• Orienteering and map work
• A village study of Worth Matravers
• Pond dipping, birdlife and mammals
• Team building games
• A trip to Corfe Castle
The year group is split in two halves and each half will stay at Leeson House for two nights. Each group of children will be supervised by members of staff from the school, as well as staff from Leeson House. The children will stay in rooms that sleep from 3 to 6 pupils.
We do hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity for your child to go to Leeson House, building on their experience of Carey Camp in Year 3. It will provide a social experience as well as an educational one and it is great fun!
If you have any questions regarding the visit please do not hesitate to ask me. We will be holding a parents meeting to provide fuller details of the trip after the February half term, where you will be able to meet the staff supporting the trip and ask any questions you may have.
If you have not received a letter about this trip please contact the school office.
Yours faithfully
Mrs. N. Banner
Head of Year 4
