In Year 4 this morning, the children had the opportunity to practice their addition and subtraction skills in a real life context. Some children were given an ‘allowance’ to spend on classroom items such as rulers, pencils and sharpers and had to find as many different ways to spend their money without having any change. The ‘shopkeepers’ were keeping their beady eye on their spending and their calculations while ‘helpdesks’ were available for any shoppers who got into financial difficulty! All children are keen to return to the shop soon.
