RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL

FEDERATION

Unicef

We were delighted to receive our Rights Respecting Schools Level 1 status in recognition for all the hard work we had done on the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

As UNICEF ‘Rights Respecting’ schools, we base our core values upon the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.  We engender in all members of the federation community an understanding of the concept of mutual respect; where rights and responsibilities are of equal importance, as inscribed in our Federation Charter.

Rights Respecting Ambassadors

Every class has nominated a representative to be a Rights Respecting Ambassador to work alongside the Rights Respecting Co-ordinator.

This enables every child within the school to feel as though they have a ‘voice’ and will be listened to. Regular meetings are held for the ambassadors during which important decisions are made regarding RRS issues.

Federation Charter

As a newly federated school, we felt that it was important to confirm our belief in children’s rights and responsibilities, emphasise how people should be treated and the ways in which we wanted to learn.

The school councilors from both schools (Infants and Juniors) came together to share ideas and work out what the federation charter should look like.
