45 members of Y4 went to a fantastic schools’ concert by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at Poole Lighthouse last week
The concert, ‘The Four Elements’ featured music by Stravinsky, Holst, Smetana, Debussy and Dvorak, as well as two pieces specially written for the event, ‘War and Peace’ and a song about the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. All the children joined in with the song and played body percussion in ‘War and Peace’.
We were sitting very near to the front and had a wonderful view of all the violins and some of the other musicians. Lots of the music was very loud and exciting with crashing cymbals and booming drums.
It was an amazing experience to see and hear the orchestra playing live in front of our eyes. Everyone loved it! Here’s what some of the children said afterwards:
“ That was a-ma-zing!!” Ben
“ I would definitely go again. I loved it, it was epic!” Roddy
“I really enjoyed joining in The Four Elements song with all the other schools.” Sylvie
